Lake Taupo
Lake Taupo, in the centre of North Island, is a great base from which to explore the surrounding countryside. A short drive away is Huka Falls, New Zealand's most visited natural attraction. Located in Wairakei Tourist Park, almost 60,000 gallons of water tumble over the cliff face every second at this spectacular waterfall. You'll also find the Craters of the Moon thermal area in Wairakei Tourist Park - bubbling craters, mud pools and steam vents which emerged only in the 1950s. whooo
