Well, there is safe to travel to Bangkok or Thailand now, no problem seems to be serious for traveling as tourists.I would like to recommend you to visit Bangkok first for a couple days before go on the north to see the beauty of nature.

Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand. Bangkok provides shelter to about 10 million people and its tourist attractions are Wat Trai Mitr, Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Wat Mahathat, Wat Suthat, Wat Bowen Niwet, Wat Ratchanatdaram, Golden Mount, Safari World, Dusit Zoo etc. Bangkok is a modern city but it preserves the ancient heritage.

If you love islands then check out the Phi Phi Islands which is the most popular tropical island in Thailand. Ko Phi Phi Don is the biggest of the Phi Phi islands and is also a non-volcanic island. Its white sandy beaches of Ao Lo Da Lam and Ao Ton Sai and the twin bays are simply outstanding. The scenic spots along the beach is awesome. Accommodation is also available at Hat Yao and Ao Lo Bakao. Snorkeling or a boat trip is great fun in this island.

Ching Mai in Northern Thailand is also an attractive tourist destination. It is also called the 'Rose of the North' and is famous for its elephant training camps, orchids, handicrafts like lacquer ware, woodcarvings, celadon silk etc. It is the primary center for river rafting and trekking. Its prime tourist attractions are Wat Phra Sing, Wat Chiang Man, Wat Suan Dok, Wat Chedi Luang.
