we are planing to spend 3 weeks in thailand and would like to know the most popular backpackers destinations couldnt find any info. on the internet so any suggestions would help a lot...we are going to be there 15-20 jan. 2009 and want to spend some time on the beach..what will be the weather like (compare to philippines or malaysia)

The most popular for backpacker in Bangkok is Khaosan Road. Getting there, you can find a lot of budget guesthouse as well as tour package to the nice beach in southern part of Thailand.
Also, the most popular destination for Southern is Krabi, Samui, Phuket etc. Regarding the weather, from now on till april is considering as High season. The sun, beach, sand, and sea are great. If you want to looking for a bargain accommodation. Try this one
