are there any requirements to join travel chat rooms?

Im travelling alone right now and it has been quite ok. Sometimes it sucks to pay all the taxi/tricycle expenses by yourself, but ive met up with quite a few travelers on this trip and i was together with some russian girls for 4days , an Scottish Woman for four days , a Scottish guy for two days , a swedish couple for a day and just meeting people along the way.

Pls tell me first that its a chat room or a forum?
