Montevideo

Hey, i want to travel to Montevideo, Uruguay for my holidays, but as it's my first time there i don't know what to do.
I don't want to spend a fortune in hotels and I heard about this site but i really don't know anything.
Could anyone tell me if they are good?
i've also heard people in Montevideo are very nice and friendly.
